A deposit is not a security held aside. What the house keeps if you cancel follows the notice you give: nothing at all more than twenty-four hours out, half of the deposit inside the last day while she has not yet left, and the whole of it once she is on her way. If the hour is taken by somebody else it comes back in full, and if the loss was smaller than the sum kept, only the smaller sum is kept. Nothing is ever claimed as damages.
